Zayan POV
Shopping was exhausting.
Not because of the crowd.
Not because of the noise.
Because somehow...
I had become part of the decision-making process.
A role I never volunteered for.
"Zayan." above a whisper
I ignored it.
"Zayan." softly
Still ignored it.
"Zayan Khan." more urgently
I looked up.
Roohi was standing in front of me.
Holding two jewelry sets.
I stared at them.
Then at her. her those big honey hazel eyes looking at me hesistatly
Then back at the jewelry.
"I don't know anything about jewelry." i say cooly
She looked unconvinced.
"Just tell me which one looks better."
I should have said either one.
I should have told her to ask mumma
Instead...
I actually looked.
The first set was beautiful.
The second one suited her better.
For some reason, I knew that instantly.
"The second one."
She blinked.
"Really?"
I nodded once.
"It matches the dress better."
The words left my mouth before I could stop them.
Roohi's eyes widened slightly.
As if she hadn't expected an actual answer.
Then she smiled.
A real one.
"Thank you."
And walked away.
Just like that.
Leaving me strangely aware of the fact that I had spent far too much time thinking about jewelry.
Daniyal appeared beside me.
At the worst possible moment.
"Interesting."
I sighed.
"No."
"I didn't say anything."
"You were about to."
"I was."
I closed my eyes briefly.
Daniyal laughed.
"You're giving opinions on jewelry now."
"I'm not."
"You literally just did."
"I was ending a conversation."
"Of course."
His grin widened.
I regretted bringing him here.
An hour later...
The shopping somehow continued.
I was beginning to suspect it would never end.
mumma was looking at handbags.
Hania was arguing with Rayyan about colors.
Daniyal was pretending not to enjoy every second of it.
And Roohi...
Had gone unusually quiet.
I noticed before anyone else.
Not because I was paying attention.
Because she was standing right there.
Obviously.
That was the only reason.
A few minutes later she approached us again.
This time looking slightly embarrassed.
"Um..."
Rayyan immediately looked interested.
A dangerous sign.
"What happened, bhabhi?"
Roohi hesitated.
Then spoke softly.
"I think..."
A pause.
She looked down.
"I'm a little hungry."
The silence lasted exactly two seconds.
Then Rayyan gasped dramatically.
"A LITTLE?"
He looked around in horror.
"We have been shopping for four hours!"
Hania burst out laughing.
Even Daniyal smiled.
Roohi looked even more embarrassed.
"I didn't want to interrupt."
"You didn't want to interrupt?" Rayyan repeated.
"Bhabhi, this is a family. We interrupt each other professionally."
That made her laugh.
A small laugh.
But genuine.
mumma immediately stepped in.
"That's enough shopping for now."
"Finally," I muttered.
"I heard that," Aleena said.
I didn't bother denying it.
Twenty minutes later...
We were all seated in a restaurant.
Food had finally arrived.
And for the first time all day...
Nobody was arguing.
Nobody was shopping.
Nobody was choosing colors.
Peace.
At last.
Across the table, Roohi was quietly eating.
Looking noticeably happier than before.
Daniyal leaned toward me.
"See?"
I didn't even look at him.
"See what?"
"You're staring again."
I nearly choked on my drink.
"I'm not."
"You are."
"I wasn't."
Daniyal smirked.
I hated that smirk.
Because best friends notice things.
And unfortunately...
Daniyal had known me for too long.
Far too long.
Across the table, Roohi laughed at something Hania said.
And before I could stop myself...
I found myself looking up.
Just for a second.
Only a second.
Unfortunately...
Daniyal noticed that too.
And his grin became absolutely unbearable.
mhmm kasa laga chapter??
